It’s been a long road, and an interesting experience.  I have to thank Trey for the push to do this, I’m not disappointed.  Yeah, things didn’t work out like we planned two months ago, but it’s now something I can’t imagine not being involved in.

I’m not saying that my story is perfect.  My approach to the whole affair has been to just write.  No thinking allowed, no agonizing over characters and motivations, and no revising until I get to page 90.  The whole point was to exercise my creativity in writing, something which had become lax over the last couple of years.

Now I’m going to take a week or two off and then go back and revise and rewrite. I can guarantee that things will be changing, and quite drastically.  To those that have been receiving pre-release copies of the story as I write it, I’m sorry for putting you all through the pain of my horrible writing — but now things have a good chance of changing.

So, while I’m still looking forward to Trey’s story — which he should (I hope) finish anyway — I’m also looking forward to fixing my script.  We hope you all have enjoyed these last eight weeks, following along with the progress.

Stay tuned, who knows what may happen next.

It’s been a long journey, but this screenplay contest is almost over.  With only ten pages left to write, I’m basically finished.  These final ten are basically epilogue, wrapping things up.

It’s not a good story, considering that it’s pre-first draft.  But after some (a lot) of revision, it might be a pretty good story.  In the end, the point of the contest — to get us back to writing — has been a success.

Sorry for my seeming absence from this contest of sorts, but for starters, I’m not giving up. I have had some major setbacks though, the likes of which I may not be able to recover from. A couple weeks ago, the place where I go to do stuff in return for compensation of the monetary variety, decided that it would be a good idea to terminate 75% of the Broadcast/Engineering Department. I was not one of them, nor was Allison. Our survival is none-the-less a bittersweet one. Having gone through this more than a couple of times in less than a year, I find it has begun to take something out of me; Something I’m not going to get back in the same condition it was in before. Needless to say, I’m making preparations for the inevitable, but this time, when the boat starts to sink, I’ll be there to lay down some scuttling charges. Afterwards, who knows? Maybe I’ll wash up on Mysterious Island!

It’s been five weeks and I’m still working on this thing.  I’ve even gotten two pages further than I was supposed to, so I’m up to page 68.  Still no word on Trey, so who knows where he’s standing.  Maybe he’s already given up?

Come on Trey, let’s have an update!  I’ll bet if we get a lot of comments on this post he’ll make an update …
