They were done well. I agree with Ryan about the Utopian overtones. Sounds more like a Brave New World to me, which is not my idea of Utopia (or even of a good life). To be honest, this scares me. I hope we don't become constantly hooked to the internet. It will isolate us even further from true human contact. Like it said, I can be whoever I want on the internet. It takes all the work out of character shaping and growing as a person. If I want a new quality, I make an avatar for it. If I want to be evil and commit crimes, I make an avatar for it. Yikes! The second video brings up a good point that communication (good communication, I guess) is integral to changing the minds of the masses. It is also important in control and subjugation. This is why God confused the languages; if humans could/would all communicate easily, we could accomplish anything. How's that, Trey? On the technical side, I really enjoyed these videos. We're already shifting into an information society, and I think an information economy will follow. How quickly it will follow, I don't know. Technology will be the big determiner! As far as the utopia topic, I do think it would take another World War for us to move into a unified direct-democracy as quickly as they suggested, technological advancements aside. I mean, a unified planet within 50 years? It's the future, so I won't discount it, but yikes, is that a tall order! Makes me want to do my Bones/Genesis soliloquy. Lastly, I thought these videos were put together quite well. The visuals and pacing were cool. The score was subtle but powerful. All the elements were well thought out and contributed to the feeling I was watching the intro to a sci-fi film. Kind of inspiring actually.
